One of the most unique aspects of Times Square is how it transforms from day to night. During the day, it’s a busy hub of tourists, locals, and street performers, with sunlight streaming through the towering skyscrapers. But as soon as night falls, the square lights up with neon signs, massive digital billboards, and a vibrant buzz that’s truly incomparable.
I was lucky enough to visit during both the day and night, and the difference was striking. In the morning, I walked through the streets with the usual hustle and bustle, but by evening, Times Square felt like a completely different world. The lights, the crowds, and the performances created an electric atmosphere that’s hard to describe unless you experience it.
Exploring the Iconic Landmarks
Times Square is surrounded by some of New York’s most famous landmarks, and you can’t leave without checking out a few of them.
The Brooklyn Bridge, one of the oldest suspension bridges in the world, offers stunning views of both Manhattan and Brooklyn skylines. Walking across the bridge and watching the sunset from there was a highlight of my trip. If you’ve seen it in movies, you know its importance.
Another standout landmark is the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, also known as the Oculus. This modern architectural masterpiece, designed by Santiago Calatrava, stands as a symbol of hope. The white interior and open space are perfect for photos, and it’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re into photography.
You can also check out Wall Street, the financial heart of the world. Here, you’ll find the New York Stock Exchange and the famous Charging Bull statue. The Charging Bull, created by Italian artist Arturo Di Modica, symbolizes strength and optimism, and it’s something you’ll see in countless movies. A trip to New York isn’t complete without indulging in some delicious food. I had the chance to grab a bite from a Halal Guys food truck, which is known for its tasty gyro plates and legendary white sauce, the queue was long, but it was worth the wait. Throughout my stay, I encountered numerous food trucks offering Halal and other international cuisines. Whether you’re grabbing a quick snack or sitting down for a meal, these food trucks are a great way to enjoy affordable and tasty dishes while exploring the city.
For breakfast, I also tried a cream cheese pie at Paris Baguette, a local café. It was indulgent, creamy, and absolutely delicious just what you need to start your day before heading out for more sightseeing.
The Best Views in the New York City: River Cruises and Brooklyn
New York offers stunning views, but if you want to truly experience the beauty of the city, a river cruise along the East River is a must. The cruise I took provided an incredible perspective of the Manhattan skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the Statue of Liberty. It’s one of the best ways to see the city from the water, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting.
After the cruise, I made my way to DUMBO trendy neighborhood in Brooklyn. From here, you get one of the most iconic views of the Manhattan skyline, with the Brooklyn Bridge perfectly framing the skyline. It’s a peaceful spot with great parks where you can relax and enjoy the view.
Experiencing the New York Subway
If you’re in New York, you’ll most likely rely on the subway to get around. The subway system is the lifeblood of the city, connecting all the major attractions. During my visit, I took the subway from Times Square to the World Trade Center area, and it was easy, safe, and affordable. The fare was $2.90, and the trains were fast and efficient, making it the best way to navigate through Manhattan.

As I made my way back to Times Square later in the evening, I was once again surprised by how beautiful it looked at night. The bright, neon lights gave it an almost surreal atmosphere. Whether you’re looking to take in the energy of the city or simply enjoy the beautiful lights, Times Square is a place you can stay in all night.
